To update my situation since then: I have survived hand surgery 2011 (which has made typing difficult), broken 2 bones in wrist of that same hand 2013 (requiring more surgery and making typing even more difficult), cancer surgery 2015 (reproductive organs, sadly to never have children), and now still cancer-free in 2019.
